The Forum of States Executive Secretaries has called on the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) to fast-track the reconciliation of pending issues from the 2025 Hajj to ensure smooth preparations for the 2026 exercise.
Speaking at a post-Hajj strategic meeting held on August 7 at NAHCON headquarters in Abuja, Forum Chairman and Executive Secretary of the Nasarawa State Muslim Pilgrims’ Board, Alhaji Idris Almakura, stressed the need for improved communication and timely clarifications between the Commission and state boards.
The meeting, chaired by NAHCON Chairman, Professor Abdullahi Saleh Usman, reviewed the successes and challenges of the 2025 operations and discussed early planning for 2026. Prof Usman announced a provisional fare deposit of ₦8.5 million for the 2026 Hajj, retention of Nigeria’s 95,000 pilgrim slots, and the possibility of rolling over contracts for the four airlines used this year.
Participants were urged to provide candid feedback on operational gaps, while commissioners led sessions on the 2026 Hajj calendar and logistical matters. The meeting ended with a commitment to stronger collaboration to deliver a seamless pilgrimage experience.
