Hajj 2024: Osun Commissioner urges pilgrims to attend screening exercise

Osun State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has organised medical screening and vaccination exercise for the 2024 to be Hajj.

The screening exercise which was carried out at the Hajj camp of the  Osun state government Secretariat Abere, according to stipulated schedule where more than 1,500 intending pilgrims from various Local governments across the state were been screened and vaccinated.

The Commissioner for Home affairs Hon. Aderibigbe Kayode Rasheed re-emphasized that the present administration under the leadership of the Governor Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke has made efforts and adequate arrangement to ensure the welfare and comfort of the pilgrims both in Nigeria and Saudi Arabia.

The Hon. Commissioner therefore, urged the entire pilgrim to make themselves available for the screening exercise because it is one of the important stages in the Hajj process, warning that any pilgrim who fails to appear for the screening would forfeit the chances of performing the Hajj rites through the state.

He noted that the exercise would help them to know their health status and allow the doctors to prescribe appropriate drugs and manage them effectively during their stay in the Holy Land.

The Chairman, House of Assembly Committee on Home Affairs, Hon Adeshina Atanda Rabiu, in his remark appealed to the intending pilgrims to be good ambassadors of Osun state and Nigerian in general while in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

He appealed to all the pilgrims not to travel to the Holy Land with prohibited items such as hard drugs, cola nut, bitter cola, or collect bags from strangers. Stressing that authorities in Saudi Arabia do not tolerate trafficking of banned substances and anyone caught is severely dealt with or given capital punishment.

The executive secretary of the board Mr Muritala Fakunle expressed his satisfaction with the turnout of intending hajj pilgrims for medical and screening exercise.

He thanked the Osun state Governor Sen. Ademola Adeleke for his utmost support in all ramifications and prayed for more success of his administration.
