The Hajj Institute of Nigeria (HIN) has taken a major step toward professionalising the country’s Hajj and Umrah industry by reviewing the proposed curriculum for its Professional Certificate in Hajj and Umrah Operations Management.
The review session, held on Tuesday and chaired by the Rector, Professor Nasirudeen Maiturare, brought together HIN management staff and officials from the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria’s (NAHCON) Training and Staff Development Division.
According to the Institute, the exercise was informed by findings from two Training Needs Assessment studies conducted in 2024 and 2025 among Hajj officials at both federal and state levels.
Established in February 2022, the Hajj Institute aims to inject professionalism into the pilgrimage sector and align Nigeria’s Hajj operations with international best practices.
