Investigation: ‘Official Hajj Seat for Sale:  How a dubious firm scams innocent Nigerians ‘

by admin

HAJJ REPORTERS Investigations have uncovered how a company suspected to be unregistered in Nigeria, Al Haske Limited, is collecting money from innocent individuals and groups with a promise to give them an official Hajj seat from the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) for the 2025 Hajj pilgrimage.

The leader of the group, identified as Abubakar G. Bulama, has been contacting his victims and telling them that he has the support of the Chairman of NAHCON, Professor Abdullahi Saleh, to sell official Hajj seats to them so long as they are willing to abide by the terms and conditions he proposes.

A verified audio recording obtained by HAJJ REPORTERS reveals Abubakar telling one of his victims that “we are not fake people, in fact, we have the blessing of Professor Pakistan to use this as a form of assistance because the Chairman is one of our own here in Kano”

Further investigations by the newspaper reveal that so far, about five people have made payments to two bank accounts provided, one of which belongs to Abubakar G. Bulama while the other is that of a company named Shukra Energy Global Services.

One of our sources confirmed that his brother had already fallen victim to the scam, saying, “Someone promised to sell NAHCON official Hajj seat to my brother, and he has already made some financial commitments to them. They said they know the NAHCON Chairman and that it is genuine. Please help us verify the authenticity of their claim”

“They said he should pay N200,000 with a promise that they will get 40 per cent of whatever is paid as allowance to him during the trip”.

Although the group operates under the name A.I HASKE Nigeria Limited with alleged registration number RC814637 and NO 267 Ungwa Gama C, Kwanar Jafar, Nasarawa LG Kano State as office address, a public search conducted on the website of the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) returns zero findings.

The group approach their victims by providing a printed form to be filled indicating interest and a commitment to pay a non-refundable fee of N200,000.00 (Two Hundred Thousand Naira Only)

Further checks by HAJJ REPORTERS reveal that although the group operates from an area in Kano where the NAHCON Chairman comes from, there is no known connection between them and Professor Sale.

Reacting, NAHCON’s Assistant Director Information and Publication Fatima Sanda Usara said “The Commission has not assigned any group to distribute official hajj seat to anyone. The issue was brought to NAHCON’s attention and security personnel are already investigating the people identified.

She said “Notices have been placed in the media advising the public to beware. The Chairman himself made a disclaimer on it”.
