The Jigawa State Pilgrims Welfare Board has partnered with a Mecca-based foundation to provide free eye care services, including cataract surgeries and medications, to pilgrims from the state performing the 2026 Hajj in Saudi Arabia.

Director-General of the board, Ahmad Umar Labbo, said the initiative was part of efforts to improve the health and well-being of Jigawa pilgrims both before their departure from Nigeria and during their stay in the Holy Land.

Labbo noted that the partnership reflects the board’s commitment to introducing programmes that directly benefit pilgrims and enhance their welfare throughout the Hajj exercise.

The board described the collaboration as a major step towards ensuring that pilgrims have access to quality healthcare services while performing their religious obligations.

The statement was signed by the board’s Public Relations Officer, Habibu Yusuf Babura.
