Mashariq Al Dhahabia Distances Self from Viral Mina Meal Video

Saudi-based pilgrim service provider, Mashariq Al Dhahabia, has denied responsibility for a viral video showing Nigerian pilgrims in #Mina complaining about the quality and quantity of food served during the 2026 Hajj.

Speaking with Hajj Reporters, the team leader in charge of catering services for the company said the meal shown in the video did not originate from its caterers, stressing that the tents featured were not under Mashariq Al Dhahabia’s management.

In the video, some pilgrims were seen protesting the provision of what they described as an inadequate breakfast consisting of one egg, soup and water.

The company explained that several service providers operate in #Mina, including Mashariq Almasia , which also cater to pilgrims. It said the caterer responsible for the disputed meal could belong to that providers, but not Mashariq Al Dhahabia.

The service provider said it was important to clarify the situation to avoid misleading the public and pilgrims.

Meanwhile, the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has launched an inquiry to identify the caterer responsible for the meal supplied to the affected #pilgrims and has vowed to impose sanctions on any service provider found culpable.
