A staff member of the Nigeria Aviation Handling Company (NAHCO), Auwal Ahmed Dankode, has been commended for his honesty after discovering and reporting $10,000 left behind in an aircraft at the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport.
Dankode, who was on cleaning duty inside the aircraft, found the cash, estimated at about N16 million, and immediately alerted the airline’s management to enable efforts to trace and return the money to its rightful owner.
The NAHCO staff, who hails from Kode in Kano State, was described by colleagues as demonstrating rare integrity and a strong moral sense in an environment where such large sums could easily be misappropriated.
Airport officials said the incident reflects positively on NAHCO’s workforce and underscores the importance of honesty and professionalism in aviation operations.
