The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has placed an advertorial asking interested candidates to apply for the position of Secretary of the Commission.

In an advertorial seen by HAJJ REPORTERS on Saturday, NAHCON said that as part of its commitment to its mission “to diligently implement the NAHCON Act”, it is dedicated to ensuring that experienced and capable personnel, fill leadership roles as they become vacant.

“Consequently, the Commission is seeking a qualified, skilled and focused individual, to fill the position of secretary”

The announcement stated that the successful individual will statutorily, be responsible for keeping the records, conducting correspondences and serving as Secretary at all meetings of the Commission.

These will be in addition to ensuring effective reporting of the Commission’s activities, maintenance of the register of licensed Hajj operators, facilitation of publication of the Commission’s regulations and coordination of the Commission’s standard of performance.

On the requirements, the commission outlined that an individual must have a “Bachelor’s Degree, its equivalent or higher in Public Administration, Human Resources Management or any other related field.

A Muslim of sound mind, a knowledgeable person in Islamic Studies, Proficiency in Arabic and English as working languages, have a Minimum of 20 years of work experience with at least 10 years of these in top management and must not be less than 50 years of age”.

The advertisement further specified that the submission of applications should be in a single attachment.

“NAHCON is an equal opportunity employer and will not discriminate based on gender, ethnicity or physical ability,” it said.

It will be recalled that NAHCON had in December appointed Aludi Shutti as Ag Secretary of the commission – an appointment that was well applauded by various hajj stakeholders owing to his experience in virtually all hajj-related activities.

HAJJ REPORTERS also noticed that the requirement specified by NAHCON in the advertisement does not include experience in hajj-related activities which is an important aspect of hajj administration.
