The Executive Secretary Nasarawa State Pilgrims Welfare Board, Mallam Idris Ahmad Almakura has said the board will effect payment of refunds through banks to ensure transparency and proper documentations.
Almakura stated this while briefing board members during their quarterly meeting held in Lafia on Tuesday.
He told the board members that the board has made refunds of about 300 Pilgrims and non among them was paid in cash but through bank transfer to their respective accounts.
Mallam Almakura further explained that after the refunds, the board still have over 800 intending Pilgrims for hopeful 2022 hajj, hence solicited the support of board members to suspend registration of new intending Pilgrims in the state for now.
The Executive Secretary of the board applauded Governor Abdullahi Sule for supporting the board to discharge it responsibilities effectively.
Earlier, Chairman of the board Col. Jibrin Bala Yakubu retired who was represented by Mallam Abdullahi Limamin Gabas appreciated the efforts of the Executive Secretary for his commitment despite challenges facing hajj operation in last two years as a result of Covid-19 pandemic.
The members who spoke during the meeting all agreed with the decision to suspend registration of new intending Pilgrims just as they commanded the Pilgrims Board Boss for adopting measures that will enhance transparency in the method of refunds.
Prayers were offered for the success of this administration and the end of COVID-19 before the 2022 hajj exercise
