The Executive Secretary of the Nasarawa State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Mallam Idris Almakura, today officially flagged off the 2026 medical screening exercise for all prospective pilgrims from the state.

Speaking at the commencement of the exercise, Mallam Almakura emphasized that the medical screening is a mandatory prerequisite for all intending pilgrims. He called on all registered individuals to present themselves promptly for the crucial health assessment.

The Executive Secretary issued a stern warning that any intending pilgrim who fails to undergo the screening will face sanctions. He particularly highlighted the policy regarding pregnancy, stating that any woman found to be pregnant during the screening will be disqualified from the pilgrimage for the 2026 season.

Mallam Almakura further warned of “drastic action” against any local government or unit coordinator who clears female intending pilgrims without ensuring they have undergone a thorough pregnancy test as part of the process.

He tasked the leader of the medical team with conducting the exercise with the utmost transparency and diligence, ensuring comprehensive coverage with no pilgrim left behind.

Earlier in his address, the Head of the Medical Team explained that the screening is compulsory and designed to assess the health status and fitness of all intending pilgrims before the journey.
