The Oyo State Government has announced an update regarding the departure arrangements for intending Hajj pilgrims for the 2026 pilgrimage exercise.
According to an official communication issued by the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Otunba Segun Ogunwuyi, PhD, the approval process with the Federal Government for the airlift of pilgrims from Samuel Ladoke Akintola Airport is yet to be concluded.
As a result, National Hajj Commission of Nigeria has designated Murtala Muhammed International Airport as the approved departure point for all pilgrims from Oyo State.
Pilgrims who had initially registered to depart from Ibadan will now be airlifted from Lagos in line with the schedule already outlined by the Commission.
The State Government has assured that necessary arrangements are being made to ensure a smooth transition and seamless travel experience for all affected pilgrims.
The Government expressed its sincere appreciation to all stakeholders and intending pilgrims for their cooperation, understanding, and continued demonstration of patriotism throughout the process.
Reaffirming its commitment to the welfare of its citizens, the Oyo State Government urged all pilgrims to remain calm and comply with the updated arrangements as preparations for the sacred journey continue.
