As part of preparations for the 2025 Hajj pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia, the Niger State Pilgrims Welfare Board has commenced the symbolic distribution of uniforms and 8kg hand luggage to Area Pilgrims Welfare Officers (APWOs).
The brief but significant event took place at the Board’s headquarters in Minna and marks the beginning of logistics arrangements aimed at ensuring a smooth, organized, and spiritually fulfilling pilgrimage experience for intending pilgrims from the state.
In a press statement released, the Executive Secretary of the Board, Sheikh Muhammad Awwal Aliyu, represented by the Director of Administration, Babanni Yahya Aliyu, described the distribution as a “crucial step in the Hajj preparation process.” He emphasized that the items are strictly for intending pilgrims who have completed their payments in a bid to ensure readiness and proper planning.
“The 8kg hand luggage provided will help pilgrims manage their personal belongings efficiently, promoting light and hassle-free travel. I urge all intending pilgrims who are yet to complete their payments to do so without delay, while encouraging others to take advantage of the ongoing registration,” he said.
Receiving the items on behalf of Chanchaga Local Government and other APWOs, Alhaji Abu Sufyanu Siri Siri, Chairman of the Area Pilgrims Welfare Officers, expressed appreciation and pledged to ensure a transparent and fair distribution. He also reassured the Board of their commitment to uphold the highest standards of service in assisting pilgrims during the sacred journey.
The distribution exercise, which is held annually, forms part of a broader strategy by the board to enhance the overall Hajj experience by tackling common logistical challenges faced by pilgrims.
The event was attended by board management and representatives of various local governments, reinforcing the Board’s commitment to a seamless and memorable pilgrimage for all intending pilgrims from Niger State.
