Nigeria Secures Release of Three Citizens Wrongly Arrested in Saudi Arabia

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has secured the release of three Nigerian nationals earlier detained in Saudi Arabia following a travel ban imposed on them in August 2025.

A statement from the Nigerian Consulate in Jeddah confirmed that the Saudi authorities have fully lifted the travel restrictions after investigations revealed that the prohibited substances found in their luggage were fraudulently linked to their tickets by criminal syndicates operating at Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport, without the travellers’ knowledge.

The ministry described the development as a major diplomatic success and reaffirmed the federal government’s commitment to protecting the rights and welfare of Nigerians abroad.
