Saudi Arabia has announced rules for worshippers visiting the Prophet’s Mosque in Medina.
The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah issued guidelines saying luggage may not be taken into prayer areas inside the mosque.
It said large luggage items (such as suitcases) may not be taken into the mosque, and that small luggage items are not permitted in prayer areas.

While the Ministry said luggage items are banned in the mosque, lockers are provided for worshippers visiting the site.
In a statement on social media, the Saudi ministry said: “To ensure a safe and organised visit to the Prophet’s Mosque, we kindly request you adhere to regulations, regarding the storage of your baggage.
“For small baggage and suitcases, bringing them into areas designated for prayer is strictly prohibited. Please use the safety boxes outside the mosques to store these items securely.
“Oversized baggage should not be brought into the mosque premises or thrown in the outdoor courtyards nearby, as there is limited space available in the safety boxes for such items.
Thank you for your diligence and dedication in following the instructions regarding baggage storage when visiting the Prophet’s Mosque. We appreciate your awareness and commitment to ensuring a safe and organized visit.#Makkah_in_Our_Hearts pic.twitter.com/4JJ8djMxeE
