The Taraba State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has commenced the distribution of uniforms and travel bags to intending pilgrims for the 2026 Hajj exercise.
Flagging off the exercise at the Board’s premises, the Ag. Executive Secretary, Alhaji Abubakar Usman Tanko, said the items were allocated to officials across three centers at the headquarters and sixteen local government designated pay-points.
These include Headquarters 1, Headquarters 2, and Headquarters 3, as well as the sixteen local government centers in the state.
Alh. Tanko urged officials at the centers to ensure that only verified pilgrims receive the items, stressing the need for transparency and accountability in the distribution process.
He explained that the uniforms and bags were procured using funds contributed by pilgrims under the Hajj fare component.
The Executive Secretary further highlighted new regulations introduced by Saudi Arabian Hajj authorities, noting that pilgrims would be allowed to travel with only one bag to the airport. He therefore advised pilgrims against carrying additional luggage beyond what was provided.
Earlier, the Chairman distribution committee Malam Bashir Gassol, said the initiative was aimed at ensuring proper equipping of pilgrims and urged beneficiaries to make appropriate use of the items.
In his remarks, Board Member Alh. Muhammad Buba called on officials assigned to serve pilgrims to treat them with dignity and respect, and to ensure timely and orderly distribution of the materials.
Initial distribution was carried out for pilgrims from the Headquarters and 16 Local Government Areas of the state.
