Hajj pilgrims urged to register paying Tk 3 lakh by Oct 23

The Religious Affairs Ministry has urged intending pilgrims, who want to perform Hajj in 2025 to get registered paying Tk three lakh within October 23.

According to a notice of the ministry issued on Wednesday, those failing to get registered by October 23, would not get their tents near the Mina and Arafah. In that case, they will have to stay at hill and New Mina areas, which are far from  Jamarah.

As a result, the pilgrims, mainly the elderly and sick people, will have to walk a long distance in sunny and hot weather.

The notice said that the  Saudi government will start signing agreements with the tent building agencies to start selecting the places of tents and building those from October 23.

The tents would be allocated on ‘first come first serve’ basis.

As most of the countries will try to get their tents near the Jamarah, late responders will get tents far from the important places for Hajj.

The intending pilgrims have to deposit Tk 3 lakh each to get registered by October 23 for getting tents at desired locations, signing agreements with the service companies, renting accommodation at Makkah and Madina and paying visa fee, it stated.

This year, the pre-registration process for Hajj started on September 1 and it will continue till November 30.

This year the Saudi government allocated to Bangladesh a quota of 1,27,198 for performing Hajj.

According to the Religious Affairs Ministry data, only 1,403 pilgrims have completed their registration process by depositing Tk 3 lakh till Thursday noon.
