The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested the Head of Legal Unit at the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), Barrister Nura Muhammad, over alleged financial irregularities linked to the 2025 Hajj operations.

Sources told Hajj Reporters that Muhammad was picked up in Abuja on Monday by EFCC operatives after reportedly ignoring an earlier invitation from the anti-graft agency. He was said to have been detained for two days and later had his residence searched, with officials carting away undisclosed valuables.

Multiple sources also confirmed that the EFCC has questioned other top management staff of NAHCON, while some high-profile officials are yet to honour invitations.

Although the exact allegations have not been made public, insiders suggested the investigation may be connected to suspected fraud in the contractual arrangements for the 2025 Hajj.

Efforts to obtain an official reaction from NAHCON proved unsuccessful, as a senior official, who declined to be named, stated that he was not aware of any arrests.
