The Association of Hajj and Umrah Operators of Nigeria (AHUON) has attributed the delay in processing visas for Hajj 2025 to the temporary closure of the Saudi Hajj portal for Nigerians.
In an internal memo addressed to its zonal coordinators in Kano, Abuja, and Lagos, the AHUON National Executive Council (NEC) disclosed that the development is affecting both private operators and officials of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON).
To address the situation, the AHUON National President, Alhaji AbdulLateef Yusuff Ekundayo, alongside the Vice President (Lagos Zone), held consultations with NAHCON and UMZA Airline representatives in Abuja. However, many key officials were unavailable due to travel for ongoing Hajj operations.
AHUON confirmed that the Commissioner of Operations at NAHCON assured them that the commission is in contact with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to escalate the issue with the Saudi Ministry of Hajj.
The NEC urged members to remain calm and patient, assuring them that efforts are underway to resolve the challenge and ensure a smooth Hajj 2025 experience.
However, a highly placed source told HAJJ REPORTERS that the Hajj visa portal issue is complex because Saudi Arabia frowned at the recent overcrowding of Nigerian pilgrims in Madina, which triggered the suspension of flights into Madina for 24 hours”
“The sources further said that the Hajj visa portal may likely to reopened for 24 to 48 hours only, and they will finally close it for the 2025 Hajj season’
