Iran Begins Electronic Visa Processing for 2027 Hajj Pilgrims
Tehran, IRNA – The electronic visa process for Iranian pilgrims planning to perform Hajj 2027 has begun, with the first Raqam Talab code issued following coordination between Iran and Saudi Arabia, an Iranian official said.
Akbar Rezaei, deputy head of Hajj and Umrah affairs at Iran’s Hajj and Pilgrimage Organization, said the first Raqam Talab had been issued following coordination with Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Hajj and Umrah.
The Raqam Talab is a code issued after applicants’ passport information is uploaded to Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Hajj and Umrah system. It serves as a preliminary step toward issuing the pilgrim’s electronic visa.
Rezaei described the issuance of the first code as a milestone and expressed hope that bilateral cooperation would allow electronic visas for Iranian pilgrims and Hajj staff to be issued smoothly and on schedule.
The previous Hajj season faced visa-related difficulties following the outbreak of the recently imposed war on Iran.
Iran had planned to send 86,700 pilgrims, while 82,000 Raqam Talab codes had been issued before the conflict.
Ultimately, the number of Iranian pilgrims fell to 30,672, while 1,200 people were unable to join the pilgrimage because their codes or visas were not issued.
