Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, has appointed Sheikh Dr. Saleh bin Fawzan Al-Fawzan as the new Grand Mufti of Saudi Arabia.
The royal decree, numbered A/111 and dated 30 Rabi Al-Thani 1447 AH, also names Sheikh Al-Fawzan as Chairman of the Council of Senior Scholars and President of the General Presidency for Scholarly Research and Fatwa, with the rank of Minister.
The appointment follows a recommendation by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and takes immediate effect.
The Royal Court stated that all relevant authorities have been directed to implement the decree accordingly.
