The Jigawa State Executive Council has approved more than N2.65 billion for the 2026 Hajj operational activities.

The commissioner for information, youth, sport, and culture, Sagir Musa, disclosed this while briefing journalists after the council’s weekly meeting on Thursday in Dutse. He said the approval followed a presentation by the secretary to the state government, Bala Ibrahim, who outlined the financial requirements for the exercise.

According to Musa, the presentation underscored the need for adequate planning, coordination, and execution of all activities tied to the 2026 Hajj. The funds will cover logistics, welfare, medical services, administrative arrangements, and other essential components to ensure a safe, organised, and successful pilgrimage for intending pilgrims from the state.

He said the state government remained committed to supporting the spiritual aspirations of its citizens while upholding transparency, accountability, and efficiency in managing public resources.

“The council is assuring the public that all relevant agencies will work diligently to deliver seamless Hajj operations, in line with global best practices,” Musa said.

The Director General of the Board, Ahamed Umar Labbo, expressed gratitude to Governor Umar Namadi for his continuous support, saying it has been instrumental in ensuring the welfare and comfort of Jigawa pilgrims.
