The Plateau State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has commenced a multi-agency screening exercise for intending pilgrims ahead of the 2026 Hajj, as part of measures to ensure effective coordination, transparency and proper management of pilgrims from the state.
The screening is being conducted at the board’s headquarters, where management and staff are handling administrative and documentation processes to ensure a smooth and orderly exercise. The board said the initiative aligns with the vision of the current administration to deliver efficient services and safeguard the welfare of citizens.
The screening committee comprises Islamic scholars representing various Islamic organisations, alongside personnel from key security and regulatory agencies, including the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services, the Nigeria Immigration Service, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, as well as medical personnel.
According to the board, the multi-agency approach is aimed at ensuring thorough screening, strict compliance with established regulations, and the overall safety and welfare of intending pilgrims. It added that the exercise is ongoing and urged all prospective pilgrims to cooperate fully with officials and adhere to the guidelines throughout the process.
