The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), Abdullahi Saleh Usman, has reaffirmed the commission’s commitment to early planning, institutional coordination and strict adherence to procedures for the 2026 Hajj exercise.

In a statement signed by the Technical Assistant (Media) to the Chairman/CEO, Ahmad Muazu, Usman said NAHCON remains aligned with the policy direction of the federal government under President Bola Tinubu, with priority placed on the welfare and spiritual well-being of Nigerian pilgrims and the timely completion of critical preparatory activities.

He disclosed that priority is being given to the early conclusion of accommodation arrangements for state pilgrims in Makkah, in line with Saudi regulatory timelines.

To strengthen preparations, the chairman has approved the deployment of a high-level executive delegation to Saudi Arabia to finalize pending accommodation arrangements and ensure compliance with Saudi regulations. The delegation comprises senior officials and board members of the commission.

However, Usman will remain in Nigeria to receive the Saudi Minister of Hajj and Umrah, Tawfiq Al-Rabiah, who is expected to visit the country this month, while coordinating the delegation’s activities.

He said NAHCON has activated internal governance and oversight mechanisms to ensure accountability and effective execution of preparatory activities, stressing that all decisions of the commission are institutional and guided by due process.

The chairman assured stakeholders and intending pilgrims that NAHCON is focused on delivering a hitch-free 2026 Hajj through improved planning, discipline, and professionalism.
