The Pilgrims Affairs Office of Ghana (PAOG) has announced a mandatory animal sacrifice fee of $200 for prospective pilgrims participating in the 2026 Hajj.
The directive was issued in a statement on March 11 in Accra by PAOG in collaboration with the Ghana Hajj Agents Association (GHAA).
According to the statement, the slaughtering fee has been fixed at GH¢2,360, equivalent to $200 per pilgrim, following new visa requirements introduced by Saudi Arabia.
The agencies said the payment forms part of the documentation required for pilgrims travelling to Mecca to perform the Hajj and must be completed to facilitate visa processing.
Prospective pilgrims were directed to make the payment to the designated account of the Pilgrims Affairs Office of Ghana at Stanbic Bank.
The two organisations urged intending pilgrims to comply with the directive and follow official guidelines to ensure smooth preparations for the 2026 pilgrimage.
The statement was issued by Mohammed Amin Lamptey of the Pilgrims Affairs Office of Ghana and Abass Abdul Karim of the Ghana Hajj Agents Association.
