Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has approved the appointment of Alhaji Mashood Mustapha, the Wakili of Ilorin Emirate, as the Ameerul Hajj for the state’s 2027 Muslim pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia.
Mustapha, popularly known as MM, is an entrepreneur, public servant and community leader. He is the Chairman of Crystal Group of Companies and a former member of the Kwara State Executive Council.
He also represented a constituency in the House of Representatives between 2011 and 2015.
The new Ameerul Hajj is an alumnus of Kwara State Polytechnic, Lagos State University and Rome Business School, Italy.
In his new role, Mustapha is expected to coordinate the state’s 2027 Hajj operations in collaboration with relevant statutory bodies and government agencies at various levels.
The appointment comes as preparations for the 2027 pilgrimage begin, with states and relevant Hajj authorities expected to commence early arrangements for the welfare, accommodation, transportation and airlift of Nigerian pilgrims to the Holy Land.
