Saudi Arabia’s Permanent Committee for Hajj and Umrah has reviewed early preparations for Hajj 2027, including ongoing development projects, services for pilgrims and operational readiness at King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah.

The meeting was chaired by Deputy Emir of Makkah Prince Saud bin Mishaal and focused on preparations for the upcoming Hajj season, alongside developments in the ongoing Umrah season.

The meeting was held in accordance with directives from Prince Khalid Al-Faisal, Advisor to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, Emir of Makkah and Chairman of the Permanent Committee for Hajj and Umrah.

During the meeting, committee members assessed the efforts of government agencies and other relevant organisations responsible for serving Umrah pilgrims.

The discussions focused on improving facilities and services for visitors to the Grand Mosque in Makkah, ensuring that pilgrims can perform their religious rituals safely, comfortably and efficiently.

The committee also reviewed operations at King Abdulaziz International Airport, including its readiness to handle an annual passenger volume of 65 million.

Officials examined the airport’s facilities and services for pilgrims, including check-in and passenger processing platforms, healthcare centers, air-conditioned rest areas and dedicated welcome halls.

These facilities are intended to improve passenger movement and provide essential services to pilgrims arriving in Saudi Arabia for Hajj and Umrah.

The meeting also examined the progress of early preparations for Hajj 2027, with particular attention to ongoing development projects aimed at facilitating pilgrims’ journeys.

The committee discussed several additional matters on its agenda and adopted recommendations to support preparations and improve coordination among the relevant authorities.

The review forms part of Saudi Arabia’s ongoing efforts to strengthen Hajj and Umrah services, improve infrastructure and enhance the experience of pilgrims visiting the holy sites.
