The Executive Secretary of Adamawa State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Mallam Abubakar Salihu, has called for honest reflection and open critique of the 2025 Hajj operations to ensure future improvements.
Speaking during the post-Arafat meeting held in Makkah on June 11, Salihu, who represented the Forum of State Muslim Boards Executives, said the lessons learned during this year’s pilgrimage must serve as a guide for better Hajj management in the future.
He praised officials who courageously highlighted challenges faced during the operations, noting that such candid observations are necessary for growth. “Hajj is not about awards but about telling us what we did right and what we did wrong so we can correct and improve,” Salihu stated.
He urged the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) to organize a debriefing meeting with state boards in the coming days to allow for a thorough evaluation of the exercise before returning home.
Salihu emphasised that while awards are appreciated, genuine feedback is more valuable in improving services for Nigerian pilgrims.
