A social media user has raised an alarm over an alleged Umrah visa scam involving a man identified as Muhammad Zakariya, popularly known as Baba, said to be from Unguwar Rimi area of Kaduna.

The allegation, shared on X (formerly Twitter), claimed that Zakariya presented himself as an Umrah visa agent and collected a total of N9.1 million from a victim to process visas for two intending pilgrims. According to the post, the visas later issued were discovered to be fake.

The complainant alleged that all efforts to reach Zakariya after the discovery proved abortive, as he reportedly stopped responding to calls and subsequently switched off his phone.

Screenshots attached showed bank transfer details indicating payments made to an Access Bank account bearing the name Muhammad Zakariya, with narrations linked to visa and Umrah processing.

The post called on members of the public with any information about the suspect to come forward, while urging others to share the message to help trace him.

The allegation has since generated reactions online, with calls for caution among intending pilgrims to verify agents and transactions before making payments for Umrah and Hajj-related services.
