The Indonesian Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has signed a Cooperation Agreement (PKS) for the implementation of air transportation for regular pilgrims and kloter officers 1447H/2026M to 1449H/2028M with PT Garuda Indonesia.
The signing of the PKS was attended directly by the Minister of Hajj and Umrah, Mochammad Irfan Yusuf, accompanied by Deputy Minister of Hajj and Umrah, Dahnil Anzar Simanjuntak, along with officials from the Ministry of Religion, as well as the President Director of PT Garuda Indonesia, Glenny Kairupan and his staff.
“This cooperation agreement is carried out for the next three years to ensure the availability of aircraft fleets and the capacity of seats needed for regular pilgrims and kloter officers,” said Minister of Hajj Mochammad Irfan Yusuf in Jakarta, Wednesday, December 17.
This cooperation is a strategic step for the government to ensure the sustainability of safe, comfortable, and measurable Hajj air transportation services through a multi-year contract scheme for the next three years.
Irfan said this cooperation agreement is an effort by the government to ensure the availability of aircraft fleets and flight seat capacity for Indonesian Hajj pilgrims on an ongoing basis.
The Minister also expressed his appreciation to the Directorate General of Air Transportation of the Ministry of Transportation who were actively involved in the selection process for the preparation and provision of air transportation for regular pilgrims.
Coordination is carried out intensively with the Directorate of Air Transportation, Directorate of Aircraft Operation and Maintenance, Directorate of Airports, and Directorate of Aviation Security.
In particular, Minister Irfan expressed his gratitude and appreciation to PT Garuda Indonesia for its commitment to providing cost efficiency for the haj flight, including a price reduction of up to one million rupiah per person.
“This is a tangible form of cooperation and dedication of Garuda Indonesia to the pilgrims and the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia. We hope that the best service will continue to be provided to the guests of God by prioritizing flight safety, security, and comfort,” he said.
Irfan also emphasized the importance of certainty and suitability of time slots in accordance with the Hajj Travel Plan that has been determined, the accuracy of flight schedules, the readiness of sufficient and healthy fleets, the availability of standby aircraft (standby back up), and rapid and appropriate mitigation when irregular flights occur.
In addition, strong communication and coordination with the Saudi Arabian Civil Aviation Authority (General Authority of Civil Aviation/GACA) are also a major concern.
