The governor of Plateau State, Caleb Muftwang has given the Plateau State Muslim Pilgrims Board a new permanent office complex.
The board has been operating in a temporary site in Jos, the state capital, since its establishment several years ago.
This was revealed by the Executive Secretary of the board Alh Daiyabu Dauda in an interview with HAJJ REPORTERS in Makkah, Saudi Arabia.
“Since the creation of our State, the Plateau State Muslim Pilgrims Board never had a permanent office until when his excellency, Governor Caleb Muftwang, came on board. He gave us a permanent place now.
We have an office that is a very big place that we can even build hostels and so many things.
“ We even propose to build a market inside the place. It’s a very big place and the structures are very good. We hope to move in, inshallah, when we go back” he said.
The E.S. also said that despite being a Christian, the governor sponsored about 500 persons to the Hajj both last year and this year as well.
Speaking about the conduct of this year’s Hajj, Daiyabu Dauda said the operation was generally successful and was better than last year.
He, however, called on the National Hajj Commission to consider reducing the time pilgrims stay in Saudi Arabia after the Hajj rites.
He also urged the commission to introduce localized menu for Nigerian pilgrims who find it difficult to eat the meals prepared in Saudi Arabia.
The ES also said that the board had undertaken to provide lunch to the state’s pilgrims after their return flight was extended by five days due to operational reasons.
