Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu has approved the appointment of Amirul Hajj and leader of Kebbi State delegation to this year’s pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia, Hajj 2019.
A statement on Friday, signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Abubakar Mu’azu Dakingari said the immediate past governor of the state, Alhaji Sa’idu Dakingari is the Amirul Hajj and he is to lead the delegation while the Permanent Secretary Office of the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Safiyanu Garba Bena will serve as secretary.
Other members of the Hajj Committee are former Minister of Sports and Foreign Affairs Dr. Sa’idu Sama’ila Sambawa, former Minister of Science and Technology Professor Abubakar Muhammad Ka’oje, former Deputy Comptroller-General of Customs Alhaji Salisu Namagare, former Minister of State Foreign Affairs Alhaji Buhari Bala and the Acting Chief Judge of the State Justice Suleiman Ambursa.
The committee also includes: Deputy Speaker House of Assembly, Muhammad Buhari Aliero, Hon. Haliru Aliyu Member House of Assembly Danko-Wasagu East, Hajiya Bilkisu Usman Gebe, Alhaji Nasiru Sala Koko, Ambassador Muhammad Arzika and Aliyu Muhammad Umar Libata.
Also on the list are former Minister of Sports Hon. Bala Bawa Ka’oje, former Member House of Representatives Hon. Bello Bagudu and a renown Islamic scholar Sheikh Abbas Jega.
An official statement by the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Babale Umar Yauri indicates that terms of reference of the committee are to supervise the conduct of the Hajj with a view to advising the state government on the best way of organizing future operations.
The members have been mandated to liaise with the Chairman State Pilgrims Welfare Agency on all issues pertaining to Hajj operation as well as ensuring compliance with all agreements mutually entered into among the Pilgrims Welfare Agency, National Hajj Commission and Airline companies.
