Hajj 2024: Kano gets 5, 934 slots, announces N4.5m initial deposit, allocate 40 seats to HSS

The Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board has officially launched preparations for 2024 Hajj on Thursday.

The Director General of the board, Alhaji Laminu Rabi’u stated this at a media briefing marking the commencement of the preparations, held at his office in Kano on Thursday.

He said the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria, NAHCON, has allocated 5,934 seats to the state.

According to him, based on the directives by the NAHCON, 60 percent of the total Hajj seats would be allocated to conventional pilgrims while 40 percent should go for Hajj Saving Scheme, under Jaiz Bank.

The Director General also announced N4.5 million as initial deposit for the next year’s Hajj, adding that those that could not deposit the amount could opt for Hajj Savings Scheme.

He said “we have launched the preparations ration for Hajj 2024 today. We have launched the sells of the seats as we have just finished allocation of the 60 percent of the seats to the 44 Local Government areas of Kano state.

“We have directed out Local Government Centre Officers to commence collecting deposits from the intending pilgrims,” he said.

Mr Danbappa also said the board is up and doing to ensure that all the challenges faced in the 2023 Hajj operation had been fixed for the next year’s exercise.
