Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, has assured the state’s intending pilgrims for the 2025 Hajj of a direct airlift from Ladoke Akintola Airport to Saudi Arabia, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to a smooth pilgrimage process.
Speaking at a farewell event for the pilgrims on Wednesday, Governor Makinde charged them to conduct themselves as good ambassadors of the state and the nation, while commending the 2024 Hajj success recorded under the leadership of Sheikh Ashim Atere.
Makinde further pledged to complete all ongoing infrastructure projects at the Olodo Hajj Camp by next year, enhancing the pilgrims’ welfare and experience.
In his remarks, Sheikh Atere, Chairman of the Oyo State Pilgrims Welfare Board (Muslim Wing), confirmed that all visas had been secured and the pilgrims would be airlifted in two batches on May 10 and 11, with comfortable accommodations already arranged.
Dignitaries including Chief Bayo Oyero and Senator Monsurat Sunmonu also lauded the governor’s unwavering support and advised the pilgrims to approach the Hajj as a sacred religious obligation, not a sightseeing tour.
