The Jigawa State Executive Council has approved the release of ₦2.65 billion for the conduct of the 2026 Hajj operations for pilgrims from the state.

The Commissioner for Information, Youth, Sports and Culture, Sagir Musa, disclosed this on Wednesday while briefing journalists on the outcome of the weekly Executive Council meeting held in Dutse.

Musa said the approved sum of ₦2,651,596,547.52 is aimed at ensuring the smooth airlifting and welfare of intending pilgrims to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the 2026 Hajj exercise.

According to him, the funds will cover critical aspects of the Hajj operations, including air transportation, accommodation, feeding, medical services, orientation programmes and other logistics.

“This is to ensure a hitch-free pilgrimage for all Jigawa pilgrims as they embark on the holy journey,” he said.

The commissioner added that the state government remains committed to supporting religious obligations and ensuring that pilgrims perform the Hajj in an organised and coordinated manner, in line with international standards and guidelines issued by Saudi authorities.

He assured intending pilgrims that all arrangements for the 2026 Hajj would be handled with transparency, accountability and efficiency, noting that relevant agencies would work closely to guarantee the success of the exercise and the welfare of pilgrims.

Also speaking, the Director-General of the Jigawa State Pilgrims Welfare Board, Ahmad Umar Labbo, commended the state government for its consistent support to the board.

Labbo said the governor’s commitment has been crucial to achieving seamless Hajj operations and expressed optimism that the 2026 exercise would be successfully conducted.
