Jigawa State Pilgrims Welfare Board says the Basic Travel Allowance for the intending pilgrims from the state is ready and it will be disbursed soon.

The Director General of the Board, Alhaji Ahmed Umar Labbo, made this known to journalists on Sunday as part of the board’s preparations for the 2025 Hajj.

Umar Labbo said the Board has introduced a new system for exchanging pilgrims’ Basic Travel Allowance from dollars to Saudi Riyal to any pilgrim willing to do so.

He said any intending pilgrims willing to convert their currency from the Dollar to the Saudi Riyal can do so at Nigeria before reaching Saudi Arabia.

He said that under the new system, the board’s commercial department will be responsible for converting the pilgrims’ BTA from U.S. Dollars to Saudi Riyals for any interested pilgrims.

Alhaji Ahmed Umar Labbo stated that this move aims to reduce the stress on pilgrims and protect them from falling into the hands of fraudsters who exploit pilgrims during currency exchanges.

According to him, the system will be implemented once the pilgrims receive their BTA while departing to the holy land.

He also said that a monitoring committee has been set up to assist female pilgrims in Medina and protect them from fraudsters and scammers.

Alhaji Ahmed Umar Labbo further stated that, in addition to this, the board has introduced more plans to ensure the welfare of pilgrims during this year’s Hajj in the Holy Land.

He commended Governor Umar Namadi for his continued support to the Pilgrims Welfare Board, which he said made the board initiated various policies designed for better welfare and protection.
