Kano Gov offers permanent appointment, Hajj seat to casual staff who returned missing $16,000

Kano state Governor, Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf has offered a permanent and pensionable appointment to a casual staff of Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board, Dayyabu Haladu, who returned missing $16,000 during the last Hajj operation in Kano.

 

HAJJ REPORTERS recalls that Haladu, also known as Dan Gezawa, was said to have seen the $16,000, meant for the state’s pilgrims as Basic Travel Allowance, BTA, at the premises of the board and later returned it to the management.

The governor, while receiving the 2023 Hajj report at the government house in Kano on Monday, also offered a special gift of N1 million and automatic slot for the 2024 Hajj to Dayyabu Haladu .

 

Mr Yusuf expressed his heart-felt appreciation to the casual staff for displaying the act of honesty.

 

He said such character displayed by Dayyabu is an excellent character worthy of emulation by all and sundry.

 

“As a casual staff whose allowance is nothing to take home about, this gentleman managed to return the lost money worth over 15 million. It shows how this person has a fear of Allah and he deserved to be celebrated” the governor was quoted as saying in a statement by Sanusi Bature Dawakin-Tofa, his Chief Press Secretary.

 

“The governor then called on the people of Kano to maintain the hard-earned reputation of the state by showcasing the good virtues of trust worthiness, self-discipline and contentment so that they can live a happy life,” the statement added.

 

In his response, the beneficiary revealed that he decided to return the lost money to the authority of state Pilgrims Welfare Board for fear of Allah, “knowing well that it is not proper to use what does not belong to him despite current economic status,”

 

He then’ expressed gratitude to the state governor for the gesture extended to him, saying that it is the most joyful moment of his life.

 

Meanwhile, Excellency Abba Kabir Yusuf has promised that the famous tricyclist Auwalu Salisu who returned the missing N16m will soon be honoured by the state government.

 

The Governor said pointers have been indicating significant improvement in showing the extreme level of trustworthiness by the good people of Kano, which by extension is projecting the good image of the state.
