The General Authority for the Care of the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque is pleased to announce the opening of registration for itikaf in the Two Holy Mosques during the blessed month of Ramadan 2025.

The General Authority for the Care of the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque has announced the opening of registration for Itikaf 2025 at the Two Holy Mosques during the blessed month of Ramadan.

NOTE: Itikaaf is not available international visitors and non-saudis. You must have an Iqamah or must be a saudi national to perform Itikaf.

Registration Details:

  • Start of Registration: Wednesday, 5th Ramadan 1446 AH (5 March 2025) at 11:00 AM
  • End of Registration: When capacity is reached or by 20th Ramadan 1446 AH (20 March 2025) at 12:00 AM

The General Authority has updated the visitor app used for Itikaf registration, now restricting access to Saudi nationals and Iqama holders only. This means that international visitors and pilgrims without a valid Saudi residency permit (Iqama) will no longer be able to register for Itikaf at the Two Holy Mosques.

The updated app requires users to log in with their Saudi national ID or Iqama number, effectively denying the opportunity for non-residents to perform this spiritual practice.

Consequently, all visitors who do not meet these criteria will be unable to register for itikaf in the Two Holy Mosques.

This measure ensures that the limited itikaf capacity is reserved for eligible participants in accordance with the Authority’s policies.

Itikaf is a spiritual practice where Muslims seclude themselves in a mosque during the last ten days of Ramadan, dedicating their time to worship, Quran recitation, and supplication.

It is a Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and holds immense spiritual significance, particularly during the search for Laylatul Qadr (the Night of Decree), which is better than a thousand months.
