Saudi Arabia has announced plans to fully enforce the Bilateral Air Service Agreement (BASA) on the 50/50 passenger-sharing formula between Nigeria and the Kingdom from the 2027 Hajj season.

The disclosure was made during recent engagements between Saudi officials and Nigerian authorities on preparations for the 2026 Hajj. For the 2026 exercise, Saudi Arabia agreed to retain the existing concessionary 40/60 sharing formula.

According to a statement signed by the Deputy Director, Information and Public Relations of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), Fatima Sanda Usara, the development is part of efforts to standardise airlift operations and strengthen bilateral aviation cooperation between both countries.
