Why We Underwent Operational Reforms at FCT Muslim Pilgrims Board — Director

by admin

The Director of the FCT Muslim Pilgrims Board, Alhaji Kadir Edah, has explained that the recent operational reforms introduced by the board were aimed at strengthening its administrative structure and improving service delivery to pilgrims.

Speaking with Hajj Reporters, Alhaji Edah said the reforms became necessary shortly after he assumed office last year, noting that the board needed to be repositioned to meet current operational demands and global best practices in Hajj administration.

According to him, the reforms have already yielded positive results, particularly during the 2025 Hajj exercise. “For the first time in a long while, there were minimal complaints from FCT pilgrims regarding feeding, accommodation and camp services in Nigeria,” he said.

He attributed the improved performance to the dedication of staff members, who, he said, worked tirelessly to ensure quality service delivery. “The staff were very supportive and committed to ensuring that pilgrims had a smooth experience. While some may not appreciate the value of the reforms and may resort to silent murmuring or even mischief, our focus remains on pilgrims’ welfare,” he added.

The director explained that one of the major challenges he met upon assumption of office was a culture of entitlement, which he said was addressed through the introduction of meritocracy and proper placement of personnel. “Putting round pegs in round holes has significantly improved our operations and earned the board recognition as one of the best in pilgrims’ welfare delivery,” he noted.

Alhaji Edah also stressed the importance of early planning and adequate logistics in delivering quality services, praising the support of the supervising minister for being responsive and supportive of the board’s initiatives.

Speaking on preparations for the 2026 Hajj, he described the limited timeline as a major challenge but expressed confidence in the board’s readiness. “Although time is short, we have aligned our plans with the Saudi Hajj calendar as directed by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria. We are fully prepared and working round the clock to meet our targets,” he said.

He assured intending pilgrims that the board remains committed to ensuring a smooth and well-coordinated Hajj exercise in 2026.
