Saudi Arabia has announced a new set of fines to strengthen its public decency regulations, aimed at preserving respect, safety, and harmony in society, especially during prayer times.
Under the new rules, playing music during prayers will attract a fine of 1,000 Saudi Riyals (SAR) for first-time offenders and 2,000 SAR for repeat violations. Wearing inappropriate clothing in public will cost between 100 and 500 SAR.
Other penalties include 500 SAR for littering or spitting in undesignated areas (1,000 SAR for repeat cases), 1,000 SAR for taking photos or videos without consent (2,000 SAR for repeat), and 100–200 SAR for failing to clean up after pets.
Authorities said the measures are intended to promote orderly conduct and mutual respect in public spaces.
