The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has officially recognized Nasarawa State as the Best State Pilgrims Accommodation and Welfare services for the 2026 Hajj operation.
The prestigious award was conferred upon the Nasarawa State Pilgrims Welfare Board during a Stakeholders and NAHCON 2026 review meeting in Abuja.
Presenting the award, the NAHCON Chairman, Ambassador Ismail Abba Yusuf, commended Nasarawa State for demonstrating exceptional commitment to the welfare and comfort of its pilgrims.
He noted that the state’s accommodation arrangements in the Holy Land met and exceeded NAHCON’s stringent benchmarks for safety, proximity to holy sites, sanitation, and overall hospitality.
The award was received by the Executive Secretary of the Nasarawa State Pilgrims Welfare Board, Mallam Idris Almakura, who expressed profound gratitude to NAHCON for the recognition.
Mallam Almakura dedicated the honour to the Executive Governor of Nasarawa State, Engineer Abdullahi Sule the entire state government, staff of the board and the pilgrims themselves.
The recognition places Nasarawa State at the forefront of Hajj management in Nigeria, setting a benchmark for other states to emulate as the country prepares for the 2027 pilgrimage season.
NAHCON reiterated its commitment to ensuring all Nigerian pilgrims enjoy seamless and comfortable experiences during Hajj, and encouraged other State Boards to adopt best practices in service delivery.
