A 75-year-old man’s decades-long dream of performing Hajj was miraculously fulfilled within hours on Sunday, after a heart-wrenching video of him at Srinagar’s Hajj House moved people across Kashmir and beyond.

Abdul Rehman, a resident of Srinagar, had been visiting the Hajj House every year for the past 45 years—not to embark on the pilgrimage himself, but to bid farewell to others and humbly request their prayers. “I am alone. Every year I come here with the same hope,” he told reporters in a viral video that struck a deep chord online.

Within hours, hundreds of Kashmiris responded with overwhelming empathy. Social media was flooded with offers of support, sponsorship, and prayers. “I received dozens of messages from people who wanted to help him reach the Kaaba,” said a local journalist who recorded the video.

Among the first to act was Dr. Jan Mushtaq Khan from Kupwara. “I saw his video and couldn’t stop my tears. My brother sent it to me and we decided to arrange everything—his documentation, travel, and costs,” he said. Verification was swiftly carried out through local mosque committees and media outlets.

That same afternoon, Abdul Rehman—who had arrived merely to see off others—was informed that he would finally be undertaking the sacred journey himself.

The moment was deeply emotional. “In just two hours, a prayer 45 years in the making was answered. This is not just generosity, it is the soul of Kashmir,” said one of the onlookers.

Fighting back tears, Abdul Rehman expressed profound gratitude: “May Allah grant Hajj to every dreamer. Today, I am no longer alone. The people of Kashmir became my family.”
