The Forum of State Muslim Pilgrims Boards Executives has raised concern over the increasing number of Nigerian pilgrims without Nusuk, warning that such pilgrims risk being excluded from essential rites in Saudi Arabia.
Speaking on behalf of the forum during the pre-Arafat meeting held in Makkah on Monday, the Executive Secretary of the Adamawa State Muslim Pilgrims Board, Mallam Abubakar Salihu, said the lack of Nusuk among some pilgrims was the “most excruciating issue” facing the Nigerian contingent.
“If you have no Nusuk, you are simply not a pilgrim,” he said during a review session, urging NAHCON, the Charge d’Affaires, and the Consulate General to resolve the matter urgently.
“We have less than 24 hours to sort out the issues of Nusuk. If by the end of today, our pilgrims don’t have Nusuk, what’s next?” he asked.
The forum also decried the shortage of bed space and logistical issues in Madina, with some pilgrims reportedly unable to access their designated accommodations. However, the speaker noted that the situation in Madina is appreciably excellent and that the situation in Makkah so far remains stable.
The forum also praised the arrangements made by the two service providers in Arafat and Mina.

On healthcare, the forum called for a review of the triage system in clinics, following complaints of pilgrims waiting for up to 12 hours for medical attention. While commending the National Health Commission for handling over 4,700 patients, the forum stressed the need to decongest clinics without compromising service quality.
“We appreciate the efforts so far and the good work of the states. If we hadn’t done well, we wouldn’t be talking about our successes today,” he added.
The session concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by the Secretary of the Commission, Dr. Mustafa Muhammad Ali.
