Osun State has officially flagged off its 2025 Hajj operations with the successful airlift of 423 pilgrims to Saudi Arabia, making it the first state in the South West to begin the pilgrimage this year.
The inaugural batch, comprising 239 males and 184 females, departed the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, aboard Flynas Air flight PK-LEY. The aircraft pushed back at 7:21 p.m. and took off at 7:38 p.m.
Speaking on the achievement, the Executive Secretary of the Osun State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Mr. Muritala Fakunle, described the operation as a “significant milestone,” attributing the success to thorough planning and coordination.
He urged the pilgrims to comply with all regulations to ensure a smooth and spiritually rewarding Hajj, and prayed for their safe return.
More flights are expected in the coming days to transport the remaining Osun pilgrims, joining thousands of others from across Nigeria heading to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the holy journey.
