The Chairman and Management team of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), Professor Abdullahi Sale will lead a team of the commission’s management and officials from the States Pilgrims Welfare Boards to meet with official of Saudi Arabia’s General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) to seek for more slots to fasten the return airlift of Nigerian pilgrims.
Out of the four Airlines, Max Air, Air Peace, Umza, and Flynas, which are undertaking the return airlift, only Flynas has been able to fly twice daily.
Speaking exclusively to HAJJ REPORTERS on Wednesday in Makkah, NAHCON’s Commissioner of Operations, Prince Anofi Elegushi, said the team will be meeting with the GACA official on Thursday to “table our request for additional slots to enable us to transport our pilgrims back home. That is our main focus at the moment”
“Despite these initial hiccups, we are determined to complete the airlift of our pilgrims on schedule, and we are leaving nothing to chance.
Alhaji Elegushi stated that 8,573 pilgrims have so far been evacuated back home in 21 flights as at Wednesday evening.
He assured that the commission is determined to meet its deadline of June 28 to return all pilgrims back home.
