I am Kwankwasiyya to the Core: Why Kano State Muslim Pilgrims Board Boss Resigned

The Director General of the Kano State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Laminu Rabiu, has resigned from his position with immediate effect, citing political realignments within his party.

In a resignation letter dated January 25, 2026, and addressed to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, Rabiu said recent political developments made it necessary for him to refocus his commitments in the interest of party unity.

He reaffirmed his unwavering loyalty to the Kwankwasiyya movement and its leader, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, stressing that stepping aside from the appointment would allow him to fully support the movement’s strategic direction in the current political landscape.

Rabiu thanked the governor for the confidence reposed in him to lead the board, describing his tenure as an honour and noting the progress recorded in improving pilgrims’ welfare and strengthening the board’s operations.

He also expressed appreciation to the board members and staff for their support and collaboration during his time in office. The state government has not yet announced a replacement.
