The Jigawa State Pilgrims Welfare Board has entered the fourth phase of its medical screening exercise for intending pilgrims, marking the final stage before the conclusion of the programme at the state headquarters.

The screening is being conducted at the Dutse General Hospital, where intending pilgrims are undergoing comprehensive medical assessments in line with requirements for the 2026 Hajj.

During a monitoring visit to the screening centre, chairman of the board, Ahmed Labbo, expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the exercise and reaffirmed the board’s commitment to bearing the full financial cost of the screening. He stressed that no intending pilgrim would be charged any fee throughout the process.

The medical team leader, Abubakar Habib, said the screening was being carried out strictly in accordance with directives from the Jigawa State Pilgrims Welfare Board and guidelines issued by Saudi Arabia’s Hajj and Umrah authorities. He explained that the exercise was aimed at ensuring that only medically fit pilgrims participate in the Hajj.

Habib added that the welfare and health status of pilgrims would continue to be monitored from Nigeria throughout the Hajj operation to guarantee their safety and wellbeing.

The development was disclosed in a statement signed by public relations officer of the board, Habibu Babura.
