Over 140 intending pilgrims from Kwara State have been left stranded at the Ilorin Hajj Camp following delays in their scheduled airlift for the 2025 Hajj pilgrimage.
The pilgrims, who were initially instructed to report to camp on Saturday for a Sunday departure, said they have since faced shifting instructions without clear communication from the Kwara State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board.
“We’ve been asked to go home and return multiple times, Sunday, then Monday, and now Tuesday. We’ve waited all day today again, and no official is telling us what is happening,” one frustrated pilgrim told HAJJ REPORTERS.
Responding earlier to inquiries, the Board’s Public Relations Officer, Mrs. Jumoke Jimoh, explained that the final batch from Kwara is being merged with another state to fill a flight, which has caused the delay. However, pilgrims say the lack of regular updates has added to their distress.
