Minister Toufiq said pilgrims paid MAD 63,770 last year, marking a decrease of over MAD 3,000 compared to a year earlier.

Rabat – Morocco’s Minister of Islamic Affairs, Ahmed Toufiq, said 2025 pilgrims witnessed a significant decrease in the price of Hajj compared to the previous season.

The minister made his remarks at the House of Councillors, where he received a question from the Authenticity and Modernity Party on “reducing Hajj costs.”

Toufiq noted that in the 1446 H, or 2025 Hajj season, fees stood at MAD 63,770 per person, which was a MAD 3,095 decrease from the 2024 season, which cost  MAD 66,865  per person.

The MAD 63,770 cost included all services – from air travel fees, food, accommodation, on-the-ground transport, visa, taxes, and more.

Toufiq noted that his ministry works closely with the Royal Hajj Committee body in charge of monitoring everything related to Hajj, to oversee and monitor all expenses concerning the pilgrimage.

He added that the upcoming Hajj season for 2026 is estimated to cost a provisional MAD 65,000. The final fees, whether less or more, will be determined later upon discussion between the concerned parties.

Regarding comments on the higher costs of Hajj, the minister cited a Quran verse on how Hajj is for whoever can find a way there, emphasizing that the pilgrimage is an obligation tied to the condition of ability.

In November last year, Morocco launched the online registration for the 2026 Hajj season.
