In a bid to eliminate delays in the issuance of the Nusuk ID card ahead of the critical Tashriq days, the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has held an emergency meeting with state Hajj officials and service providers in Makkah. Chaired by Deputy Coordinating Officer Mr. Alidu Shutti, standing in for NAHCON Chairman/CEO Professor Abdullahi Saleh Usman, the session at the Commission’s Ummuljudd office emphasized the urgent need to streamline access to the essential Nusuk card for all Nigerian pilgrims.
Describing the Nusuk card as the “pilgrim’s passport,” Mr. Shutti highlighted its indispensable role in granting entry to key holy sites including Mina, Arafat, Muzdalifah, and the Haram in Makkah. In response, stakeholders resolved to establish a dedicated Nusuk Desk Officer within every state delegation to oversee card distribution, track logistics, and resolve issues promptly. Representatives from key service providers such as Mashariq Al-Zahabyah and Ekram Al-Dayf pledged full cooperation and immediate escalation of any bottlenecks to ensure no pilgrim is left behind.
To boost efficiency, the meeting also agreed on creating a centralised digital platform for real-time resolution of Nusuk-related challenges.
NAHCON in a statement signed Muhammad Ahmad Musa, Head of Public Affairs, said “Commission further called for vigorous public awareness campaigns urging pilgrims to guard their Nusuk cards like their passports. “Without it, “a pilgrim cannot proceed to the core rites of Hajj.” NAHCON reaffirmed its dedication to a seamless and spiritually enriching Hajj experience for all Nigerian pilgrims.
